North Korea

Kim Jong Un makes so many threats with such frequency that one has a tendency to tune them out. This is probably a mistake. North Korea has made significant progress in building both nuclear warheads and missiles that can deliver them. It is an open question as to whether these missiles can strike targets in the continental United States with any precision, but they can certainly destroy South Korea, Japan and possibly Guam. Two experts on North Korea recently wrote an article predicting that Kim Jong Un has made the decision to go to war with nuclear weapons. The main target appears to be South Korea, but other targets are possible.

The situation on the Korean Peninsula is more dangerous than it has been at any time since early June 1950. That may sound overly dramatic, but we believe that, like his grandfather in 1950, Kim Jong Un has made a strategic decision to go to war.

The DEFUSE grant proposal

A grant proposal, entitled “DEFUSE” was submitted to the Defense Advance Research Projects Agency (DARPA). More details about this proposal have recently been obtained by the US Right to Know Organization.

The DEFUSE grant proposal was led by EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak.

Now, drafts and notes uncovered through the Freedom of Information Act reveal fresh details about the intended research.

Specifically, the scientists sought to insert furin cleavage sites at the S1/S2 junction of the spike protein; to assemble synthetic viruses in six segments; to identify coronaviruses up to 25 percent different from SARS; and to select for receptor binding domains adept at infecting human receptors.

The genome of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, matches the viruses described in the research proposal

Emily Kopp, US scientists proposed to make viruses with unique features of SARS-CoV-2 in Wuhan. January 18, 2024

There is little doubt in my mind that US scientists transferred knowledge about how to build more deadly viruses to Chinese scientists who then built SARS-CoV-2. At this point, I don’t see how we can get any more damning evidence other than for Xi Jinping to stand up and say “We did it! We did it! Ha, ha, ha!”

The Omega Man virus

Could there be an infectious virus that kills nearly 100% of its victims? Yes, it may already exist. Yes, in a lab in China. Yes, another coronavirus.

China has recently made headlines by developing a new mutant strain of the COVID-19 virus that has shown a staggering 100 percent mortality rate in “humanized” mice. This new variant, known as GX_P2V, has raised alarm bells within the scientific community due to its potential implications for human health.

The study focused on human ACE2-transgenic mice, which are specifically engineered to possess a human receptor for the virus. These mice were intentionally infected with GX_P2V, leading to tragic consequences. The mortality rate among these mice was unprecedented, suggesting that this new variant is particularly lethal.

After analysing the bodies of the mice, they found that the virus had infected the lungs, bones, eyes, tracheas and brains. The brain infection was so severe that it killed the animals, the researchers concluded.

Sweden

Sweden is a small country with advanced technology. Most people don’t pay much attention to it. They should, because Sweden has a history of taking care of itself while situated in a dangerous neighborhood. In WW II, Sweden avoided invasion by Nazi Germany by attaching explosives to every single piece of infrastructure and factory of value, drafting everyone who could possibly hold a gun and telling Hitler that if he invaded Sweden, he would “win”, but since the Swedes would fight to the last man Hitler would lose a huge number of his troops and they would gain nothing because Sweden would blow up everything of value before German troops got to it. Instead, the Swedes offered to remain neutral and trade with both the Allies and Nazi Germany. Hitler took the latter deal. As a result, Sweden was not bombed, did not lose a large portion of its population and was well-positioned to achieve a socialistic paradise in the 1950s. This history lesson is to provide context for a recent announcement by the Swedish Civil Defense Minister and Commander-in-Chief:

Bohlin expressed concern that the modernisation of the Swedish civil defence system was not happening fast enough and urged everyone, from managers and local councillors to private citizens, to take action.

“Many have said it before me, but let me say it with the force of my office – there could be a war in Sweden.”, he said, adding that awareness needs to be translated into practical action.

He also drew parallels with Ukraine, which faced a full-scale Russian invasion with “total resilience”, according to him.

“Such an effort can only be made quickly enough if the vast majority of people are aware of the situation and understand what is at stake,” Bohlin said.

Commenting on Bohlin’s take on Swedish broadcaster SVT on Monday, Swedish Commander-in-Chief Micael Bydén said he agreed with what the minister said.

“On an individual level, you have to prepare yourself mentally,” Bydén said, adding, “This is a very serious situation, and the clarity yesterday was unmistakable. It is now about moving from words and understanding to action”.

Charles Szumski, January 8, 2024, Swedish minister, commander-in-chief warn of possible war in Sweden, Euractiv.

Many Swedish families have “Stugas”, cottages in the woods that they can go to in an emergency. For those who don’t, there are 7 million well-equipped bomb shelters waiting for them to go to. Sweden has a surprisingly sophisticated military given the size of the country. They make their own fighter aircraft, the Gripen, designed specifically to fight over Swedish territory. All of this is public knowledge. I suspect that preparations for war that are not public will be serious. Sweden will do what it must to survive.

Iran

The attack on Israel on October 7, 2023 by Hamas was suicidal from the standpoint of the Gazans. Obviously, they did not benefit. This could easily be foreseen. The attack was ordered by Iran who view Gazans as easily manipulated and entirely expendable. The Houthis of Yemen have launched suicidal attacks on ships in the Red Sea. The US and other western militaries have been responded by bombing the Houthis, as could easily be foreseen. The Houthis are backed by Iran. Once again, Iranian leaders have manipulated an unsophisticated people to be their catspaw. How many other chess pieces will Iranian leaders sacrifice to win? When will those who are being attacked by Iran’s pawns go for the King in Tehran? To me, this is just one of the theaters of WW III. The big show is yet to come in Asia.

Dementia Dystopia

Imagine a giant warehouse, except, instead of being filled with boxes and crates, it’s filled with thousands of older people on cots. There is an unpleasant smell that hits you as soon as you enter. The moans, groans and inarticulate mutterings of the people on the cots combine to make waves of sound suffused with suffering. As you approach closer, you see heavily tattooed workers roughly changing the diapers of the people on the cots. Crude robots, mostly carts with cameras on them, bump along crowded aisles carrying human waste to a back area. Not infrequently, a larger cart comes to pick up the body of someone recently expired. It goes to the same back area.

The United States is facing a debt crisis. The US debt is now 34 trillion dollars and rapidly climbing. How will this be paid? There is no plan. Both Social Security and Medicare will soon be insolvent. What happens then? There is no plan. Study after study has shown that being infected with SARS-CoV-2 causes damage to the brain. There is evidence that the risk for long covid goes up with each re-infection. This damage is relatively mild in young people, but it may be taking its toll. On almost every metric of cognitive and mental health, young people are struggling. We are told that this is because they had to learn remotely for a few months. Is this believable? Or is the alternative hypothesis, that SARS-CoV-2 is slowly causing an erosion of mental faculties of those it infects more believable?

Consider the following possibility: What if the brain shrinkage known to be caused by SARS-CoV-2 is responsible for the declining cognitive and mental health of people in the US? What if there is a massive wave of dementia in a few years as a result? What if Congress does not act and no funds are provided for the long term care of people with dementia?

Gestalt #175 – Survey of Viral Threats – The Coronaviridae

In the following weeks, I will focus on several families of viruses that affect human health and which have recently caused outbreaks in humans. These blogs won’t be comprehensive, just quick summaries of currently available information. I will provide references for those who wish to delve further.

Background

Viruses can be categorized in different ways. Scientists use information about nucleic acids to organize descriptions of viruses. Nucleic acids contain information that is used to produce proteins which in turn give structure to and perform functions for, viruses. Differences in nucleic acids can also be used to identify individual viruses and to group viruses based on their ancestral relationships. Viruses may use either RNA or DNA as their nucleic acid. The RNA or DNA may be either single or double stranded. Viruses are formally grouped together in different “families” such as the Coronaviridae which include SARS-CoV-1; SARS-CoV-2 and MERS. These names are less useful to laymen who want to know what the viruses actually do. So, viruses are often referred to as “respiratory”, “enteric” or “neurotropic”. The problem with the latter type of nomenclature is that it is imprecise and can be misleading. For example, “respiratory” and “enteric” viruses can invade the nervous system. Some viruses also have negative effects on the host not by direct attack, but instead, by causing the host immune system to attack host cells. In the survey that follows, I will use scientific nomenclature to describe groups of viruses but will also try to give meaningful information about how each virus attacks the host.

The Coronaviridae

The coronviridae are single-stranded RNA viruses. This group contains many viruses that cause what people call the “common cold”. Coronaviruses typically spread via particles in the air and enter the lungs. They can directly damage the lungs but can also infect and/or damage many other organs of the body including the heart and the brain.

SARS-CoV-1 is a coronavirus that emerged in China 2002 (Payne 2017). It infected over 700 people and had a 10% case fatality rate killing mostly through damage to the lungs (Payne 2017). The origin of this virus was initially covered up by the Chinese government which allowed it to spread to other countries (Greenfield 2007). SARS-CoV-1 was primarily spread by droplets in the air. Such transmission was usually inefficient. However, there were incidents where large numbers of individuals were infected most likely because the virus was given a mechanical assist. Specifically, machines aerosolized the virus making it possible for SARS-CoV-1 to infect far more people than it would normally (Yu et al. 2004; McKinney et al 2006). Lack of access to N95s resulted in unnecessary infections in nurses in Canada (Loeb et al 2004). The ongoing transmission of the virus in humans ended in 2003. Infection of personnel working in labs with SARS-CoV-1 occurred in China (in April 2003)(Walgate 2004) and Taiwan (in December 2003) (Orellana 2004).

SARS-CoV-2 emerged in China in late 2019 or early 2020 (CDC). The origin of this virus was initially covered up by the Chinese government which allowed it to spread to other countries, again (Sparrow 2021). The source of the virus is disputed (Salzberg 2023). The two major hypotheses are that it was either caused by a laboratory accident in Wuhan China or natural spread from animals to humans at market in Wuhan China where meat was sold. SARS-CoV-2 is primarily spread through the air as an aerosol. It enters the upper respiratory system (nose, mouth and throat) and can spread from there to the lower respiratory system (lungs) or other tissues including the brain. The loss of smell commonly associated with SARS-CoV-2 is primarily due to damage of the olfactory epithelium which is in very close proximity to the brain. SARS-CoV-2 can also damage the heart through several different mechanisms (Post and Gilotra). The disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 is referred to as COVID-19. The case fatality rate of COVID-19 has varied widely in different countries, from nearly zero to 18% (Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Mortality Analyses). In the US, the case fatality rate is estimated at 1.1% (Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Mortality Analyses). The case fatality rate varies hugely based on age with a steep increase in the probability of death in the elderly, which has been variously defined as “over 50”; “over 60”; “over 65” or “over 70”. Other factors affecting the likelihood an individual will survive infection with SARS-CoV-2 include: vaccination status; preexisting illnesses; type of care (this improved over the course of the pandemic) and access to Paxlovid and other treatments. SARS-CoV-2 kills by attacking the lungs, but also by damaging other organs. Once again, nurses in Canada were unnecessarily exposed to a SARS virus due to a lack of access to N95s (Brophy et al 2021). Long Covid or Post-Acute Coronavirus (COVID-19) Syndrome is an ill-defined condition in which the patient continues to experience symptoms long after the initial infection with SARS-CoV-2 appears to have been cleared (Davis et al 2023). A wide variety of symptoms associated with long COVID have been reported including “brain fog” and fatigue. The long term consequences of long COVID will not be known for many years. The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic is ongoing with continued evolution of new strains (Haseltine 2023).

MERS was first observed in Saudi Arabia in 2012 (CDC). It is reported to have originated in camels and then transmitted to humans (WHO). It appears to be spread primarily by close contact. There have been numerous cases where spread has occurred in hospitals (Hui et al. 2018). The case fatality rate is estimated at about 35% (Hui et al 2018). MERS infections continue to be reported, but at a low level.

Gestalt # 172 – KerPlunk

KerPlunk is game from 1970s. It includes a plastic cylinder with marbles held up by many thin plastic “straws”. Each player pulls out a straw one at a time in such a way as to avoid letting the marbles fall to the bottom. However, as the game proceeds and more straws are pulled, it is inevitable that the marbles will start to fall. The game ends when a player pulls out a straw and all the remaining marbles fall to the bottom. Russia, China, the US and Germany are all pulling straws to see who will have the least number of marbles fall. But, in the end, all the marbles are going to fall.

Corruption

I have previously discussed how WestExec Advisors operates a revolving door stable of consultants who rotate between serving as high-ranking US government officials and as very high income “advisors” for secretive clients who wish to influence the US government. WestExec Advisors was founded by Anthony Blinken, current Secretary of State and Michele Floumoy, former Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. Employees have included Lisa Monaco, current United States Deputy Attorney General, and Avril Haines, current Director of National Intelligence.

Beacon Global Strategies is another company that includes people that rotate between employment as high government officials and highly paid private consultants. The managing directors include Michael Allen, former Majority Staff Director of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and Jeremy Bash, former Chief of Staff to the Director of the CIA and Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense. At the end of 2022, Andrew Makridis left the CIA where he served as the Chief Operating Officer and joined Beacon Global Strategies. Mr. Makridis has been accused by a high-ranking CIA whistleblower of being involved in bribery of members of the CIA team investigating the origins of SARS-CoV-2. Beacon Global Strategies has worked on behalf of a company seeking to transfer sensitive technology from the US to China.

Sequoia Capital, whose Chinese affiliate became one of the biggest funders of startups in China, has been working with Washington-based national security advisory firm Beacon Global Strategies as it faces potential U.S. government restrictions on American technology investment in China, according to four people with knowledge of the situation.

Beacon’s work for Sequoia, which hasn’t been previously reported, is of critical importance because the Biden administration has reportedly discussed limiting U.S. investment in China in key areas like semiconductors and artificial intelligence through a presidential executive order.

Sequoia Hired National Security Firm Beacon Amid Scrutiny of China Deals. Juro Osawa, Amir Efrati, Abram Brown. The Information. April 28, 2023

So, when did Mr. Makridis know he was going to work for Beacon Global Strategies? Surely he knew of their relationships with companies doing business in China. Why was he interested in altering the findings of the CIA team away from a lab-leak in China?

I suggest to you that the very existence of companies like WestExec Advisors and Beacon Global Strategies is not only evidence of corruption but of potential treason at the highest levels of government. Such companies should be illegal. Anyone who has access to top secret information should not be allowed to profit from such information. It is amazing to me as an American citizen that members of the Intelligence and Defense establishments are allowed to sell their privileged information and access to decision makers to the highest bidder, including hostile foreign goverments.

The United States used to have public officials who may have been corrupt in small ways, but not with regard to national security. Thanks globalization.

Mindwarp

Every day, there are stories relating to declining mental health in the US (and probably elsewhere): Declining test scores in young people; reports of atrocious behavior in schools; the continued rise of addiction to illegal drugs; the increased use of legal drugs meant to treat ADHD; flashmobs turning cities into chaotic free-for-alls of crime and wanton destruction; plummeting productivity at work; and skyrocketing suicide rates. Much of this has been attributed to lockdowns during the pandemic even though there is no evidence supporting this and strong evidence disputing it. For example, suicide rates in the US went down in 2020 when lockdowns were most rigorous and went sharply up in 2021 and 2022 when there were few if any lockdowns.

I have argued, and provided many references, suggesting that Long Covid is partially due to damage to the brain. Is it not possible that some of the negative behavior we are seeing is to due to direct damage of the virus to the nervous system? Why is this hypothesis not even being considered? There is evidence that SARS-CoV-2 can damage the immune system. For this reason, in at least some people, repeated infections can cause worse and worse symptoms, including with cognition. If my hypothesis is correct, the behavioral problems we see now will affect more and more people. If someone is a pet psychic, well, problems thinking will be unfortunate for them and their family, but not for anyone else. But what if these cognitive problems affect people working at water treatment plants; power stations or nuclear missileers? How much does cognition have to decline before we start to have catastrophic failures? KerPlunk!

Wendigos

Terrorism on the part of Islamist radicals is not new. However, the deliberate plan to massacre large numbers of men, women and children in horrifyingly evil ways was taken to a new level by Hamas. No one can do what they did and have a normal brain. I’m sorry, it is just not possible. I don’t know what exactly happened to them, but they are now a type of evil that has to be destroyed, and not just to save Israel. Such creatures cannot be permitted to walk the Earth. They have proven that there is no limit to what they will do. They won’t stop their horrors until they are dead. I fear that there will be more of these wendigos – people who have lost their souls – and more atrocities. We may see them in the US. I hope not, but am not confident in this hope.

Gestalt # 170 – Executive Dysfunction

One of the symptoms of long Covid is “brain fog”. This doesn’t really define very precisely what is wrong with a patient’s brain. Many studies have documented specific anatomical abnormalities of people who have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 including damage to the frontal lobes of the cerebral cortex. Since this is the part of the brain responsible for planning and emotional control, damage to it would be expected to result in a diminished ability to act rationally and to complete tasks requiring sequencing of events over time. In short, we would expect such a person to become less productive and more prone to emotional outbursts.

Contrary to expectations, the move to remote work early in the pandemic resulted in increased productivity. More recently, productivity in the US has declined. This has stimulated a call for return-to-the-office as working from home was blamed for this decrease in productivity. The result? Perhaps the worst decline in worker morale ever seen in the American economy. The best employees quit and took the few fully remote jobs still available. People who can, retire early. This leaves the least experienced, least productive employees who sit in their cubicles bitterly punching away at a keyboard that they could just as easily be using in their homes – with their spouses, children and pets close by instead of their also bitter co-workers and the managers they blame for their plight.

Consider this hypothesis: productivity increases when people work from home because most are happier, haven’t had to fight an unpleasant commute and are better able to focus on their tasks. We saw this expected gain in productivity early in the pandemic. However, as more and more people became infected with SARS-CoV-2, not in the office, but in restaurants, bars and stores, the frontal lobes of their brains were attacked resulting in the signs described above. This has resulted in a huge increase in the number of people being prescribed drugs for ADHD. These drugs help people to focus better, but don’t cure the other symptoms of frontal lobe damage.

What will be the expected result of forcing people back in the office without masks and without vaccination? Most offices have poor ventilation and crowd workers together in cubicles. This is the perfect environment for spreading high concentrations of SARS-CoV-2. There is evidence that repeated exposures to SARS-CoV-2 increase the odds of long Covid. So, workers who haven’t yet suffered damage to their brains will now be at increased risk of productivity-killing pathology.

Prediction: return-to-the-office will not solve the productivity problem; it will make it worse. People who work from home will also be vulnerable to the brain effects of SARS-CoV-2 if they don’t keep up with their vaccinations and mask in public. However, the latter group may be expected to decline at a slower rate since they will not be exposed to high levels of virus while they work. Unless there is a change in policy and behavior, we can expect cognition in large numbers of people to decline, perhaps to dangerous levels. Imagine executive dysfunction in someone who writes programs for nuclear power plants, or nuclear weapons, for that matter. We will see increasing signs of societal breakdown as people lose control over their emotions. The neurological “brakes” on dangerous behavior will have failed.

I mean the term “executive dysfunction” in two ways. One relates to brain function. I also mean it in terms of the decision-making of executives, in business and politics. Most executives are not following “the science”. The science is very clear. SARS-CoV-2 has caused brain damage in some people exposed to the virus. The extent of this damage is not known and is probably changing over time. We do know that the more times you are infected, the more likely you are to get long Covid. The current return-to-office policies ignore biological reality. Executives who disregard the science and expect everything to return to normal once workers are back in their cubicles are whistling past the graveyard. And perhaps suffering from brain-related executive dysfunction, themselves.

“Face Diapers” and the embrace of death.

I recently saw posters on a popular forum refer to people who wear masks as having on “face diapers”. Wow. As someone who has worn N95s to protect myself from dangerous viruses, including, but not limited to, SARS-CoV-2, I found this to be one of the stupidest and potentially most suicidal slurs I have ever seen. First, let me say, it is true that a loosely worn bandana will do nothing to prevent you from getting COVID. However, a properly worn N95 will give you excellent protection against SARS-CoV-2, influenza, RSV and many other viruses. A high quality surgical mask, tightly fitted, will offer some protection. I suspect some of the people using the term “face diapers” are actually paid agents of the Russian and Chinese governments who want Americans to die. Unfortunately, memes like this are often picked up by poorly educated people trying to fit in with a particular group who they may not realize has been infiltrated by enemy agents. One of the people on this particular forum, in response to another poster who expressed concern about older people, wrote something like “Those old people, they think they can live forever.” I have seen many comments like this – complete disregard for the lives of the elderly and immune-compromised. What I find bizarre is that some of these same people will brag about being great Christians. Uh, no. Read your Bible (if it doesn’t burn your hands). You all are working for the Other Team. Let’s be clear on that.

How much does a great education cost?

Some tuition costs for elite High Schools:
Phillips Exeter – USA – $61,000 per year
Eton – England – $60,000 per year
Institut Le Rosey – Switzerland – $157,000 per year
Institut Auf Dem Rosenberg – Switzerland – $135,000 per year

Some of the students at these boarding schools are the unwanted children of first marriages dumped in luxurious surroundings to assuage the guilt of their parents. However, some students have, in the past, gotten excellent educations at these schools. I have read that some wealthy parents no longer use these institutions if they want truly well-educated kids. They hire private tutors instead. These super-tutors can earn over $200,000 per year. Does this work? In some cases, yes, it works. These kids go on to make a ton of money partly because of their excellent educations. I will have specific details on how to get as good an education as possible for a lot less money. Hint. My occasional lists of great works are not a bad place to start.

The Phony Economy and the Endgame

I’ll say right up front, I have absolutely no credentials in finance or economics of any kind. So, take the following for what it is worth. I first suspected that there was something wrong with the official story of how the global economy worked in 2008 during the banking crisis. I saw various numbers relating to private and government debt that just did not make sense to me. Since then, the more I learn about debt the more I think we are headed for disaster. There is no way all the debt that has been taken out can possibly be paid. Another troubling discovery – there is a massive misallocation of talent in the US. Smart people are given useless work to do all day while our infrastructure crumbles and life expectancies plummet. Pretty much every metric associated with quality of life is declining while both government and private debt continues to balloon. The Free Market is not operating in the US and no-one seems to notice. As a result, the entitlements promised the Boomers and Gen-Xers cannot possibly be paid. So, what’s the endgame? Tell everyone that N95s are face diapers and that vaccines are bad for you? I fear that many are already in line in the slaughterhouse chute but don’t know it.

Gestalt #157 – Agendas

Information is important. Operating on false, agenda-driven propaganda can be dangerous to your health. So, who to trust for information? I struggle with this question since we are now in an environment when sources that used to be trustworthy no longer are.

The Origin of SARS-CoV-2 Agenda

Recently, some information that been previously been classified about the origins of SARS-CoV-2 has been released. I frankly do not understand why this information had been classified. I saw nothing new that had not already been publicly known. It does provide official confirmation of a number of unofficial reports that provide support for the lab-leak hypothesis. However, the language used in the report was written in a biased, agenda-driven style. It was obviously intended to downplay the lab-leak hypothesis as much as possible. Media headlines obligingly participated in this attempt to skew public perception of the evidence against the lab-leak hypothesis. There has been, and continues to be, an orchestrated campaign against the lab-leak hypothesis. It is sophisticated and involves influential “trusted” scientists, politicians and the media. This agenda puts the United States, and indeed the whole world at risk of a biological nightmare even worse than the current pandemic.

The Infection Agenda

The United States dominates knowledge of psychological influence. Our entertainment and marketing experts are the best in the world. They shape the culture in the US and globally. Given the resources at the fingertips of the US government, it should have been easy to encourage the US public to adopt practices that would increase their health and save them from death. But, as we all know, that is not what happened. Instead, the government, the national public health authorities and many members of the media provided information in a way that would guarantee that the public concluded that “masks” were useless, that vaccines were not effective and maybe even dangerous and that SARS-CoV-2 didn’t kill anyone “important”. They did this by providing confusing and contradictory information. “Don’t wear a mask”; “Do wear a mask”; “A bandana is good enough”; “You need a surgical mask”; “Masks don’t work”; “Vaccines will end the pandemic as soon as everyone gets one”; “Vaccines are dangerous”; “Only people over 65 should get vaccinated”; “Everyone should get vaccinated”; “The pandemic is over”; “The pandemic is not over”; “You should work at home”; “It’s perfectly safe to work in a crowded office with unvaccinated, unmasked co-workers”; “Only certain people are at risk (and it doesn’t matter if they die).” This last message has been pretty consistent. Some of the confusion was due to incompetence and just plain stupidity, but not all of it. We, as a country, could have delivered clear information with an effective strategy. We know how to do this. We just chose not to.

The Distraction Agenda

There are many serious threats to our well-being and indeed our very lives. However, the media underplays these, when they are mentioned at all, and instead has constructed artificial issues with which to distract us. You can tell that there is an overarching agenda shared by all the media because these artificial issues are introduced simultaneously by all the media regardless of their supposed ideological differences. CNN and Fox News cover pretty much the same stories in about the same degree of attention. The fact that they are on “opposite” sides of a given artificial issue is irrelevant. The point is that by “discussing” artificial issues instead of ones that actually affect the lives of most of their viewers, they are preventing the public from finding out about potential threats and taking steps to protect themselves. Only the wealthy know how bad most K-12 public education is and take steps to make sure that their children get a proper education. Only the wealthy know that the complicated tax policy we currently use was constructed so that only they could benefit from it while the middle class is milked of their earnings. Only the wealthy know that regulations are carefully tuned to benefit their businesses while damaging striving small businesses. Only the wealthy know just how fragile this civilization is and are building luxurious bunkers with which to ride out the great depopulation event that is coming. Well, we do know about the last one.

Education, the anecdote to agendas

I cannot emphasize enough the importance of education to see through the agendas that threaten our well-being. I will blog more about this in future.

Peter Bogner – International Man of Mystery

Peter Bogner launched GISAID in 2008. Many virologists deposit sequences of the highest importance in this database with highly restrictive conditions that make access to critical sequences difficult to access.

Who is Peter Bogner?

  • Peter Bogner was born in Germany
  • Peter Bogner is a criminal – he was convicted of securities fraud and served time in jail.
  • Peter Bogner is a liar – he has lied about his education, his identity, his personal accomplishments and what GISAID has accomplished
  • Peter Bogner has a false identity (Steven Meyers)
  • Peter Bogner convinced a virologist, Jeremy Kamil, to post Bogner’s tweets in Kamil’s name.
  • Peter Bogner has access to millions of dollars, but no one knows where it comes from.
  • Peter Bogner is vindicative – he will deny access to GISAID to any scientist who offers even mild criticism of GISAID
  • The German government has supported GISAID
  • GISAID removed SARS-CoV-2 sequences that the Chinese government found embarrassing

Support for the preceding assertions can be found in an excellent article in the journal Science, written by Martin Enserink and Jon Cohen: “The ‘invented persona’ behind a key pandemic database.” I strongly recommend reading the entire article.

Some excerpts:

In his early 20s, Bogner was convicted of securities fraud—a previously unreported felony for which he spent time in jail—and had a falling out with a World Cup skier over funding and credit for an instructional video.

Bogner appears to have inflated or outright invented aspects of his higher education and work experience on different versions of his CV, and news stories about him on GISAID’s website have been altered.

Eventually, Kamil reached a bizarre conclusion: Meyers didn’t really exist, and it was Bogner he had been communicating with.

When Science sent Gangavarapu an audio clip of Bogner talking, he replied: “This is definitely the same voice as Steven Meyers.”

Kamil also defended GISAID on Twitter and attacked its adversaries. Some of those tweets were suggested by Meyers, he says, or even edited by him before posting. At Meyers’s behest, Kamil mentioned in an October 2020 thread that some SARS-CoV-2 samples in Qingdao, China, came from frozen food. The Chinese government has promoted the thesis that imported food sparked the initial COVID-19 outbreak in Wuhan, rather than a virus leak from a lab there or spread from a local animal market.

Several virologists say their data stream has been interrupted without an explanation, in apparent retaliation for even mild criticism of GISAID. Marion Koopmans of Erasmus University Medical Center, says she has received multiple calls from Bogner “with a rather intimidating tone.” So have colleagues, she adds. “I have heard similar experiences from quite a few.”

Scientists who met Bogner during that time say he appeared to be rich and well-connected. He jetted around the world, stayed in five-star hotels, talked about his wealthy family, and said he paid the startup costs for GISAID out of his own pocket. The authors of a 2017 paper about GISAID in Global Challenges, who interviewed Bogner, called him “an energetic, influential, and dedicated philanthropist” and put his contribution at “a low-mid seven figure sum.”

By September 2009, GISAID had found a new home. In a press release, it said the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbrücken, Germany, had teamed with a company in the same town to develop a new database, and that SIB’s version was now “obsolete.” In 2010, the German government announced more support for GISAID: The federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture would host the database for free, and the Friedrich Loeffler Institute, Germany’s national animal disease center, would handle quality control of the data. (A ministry spokesperson says GISAID transferred its online platform to another, undeclared host in June 2021, ending their 11-year collaboration.)

Oustanding questions: Where did Peter Bogner get the money to start GISAID (over 1 million dollars)? Where does he get the money to live his lavish lifestyle? Who is supporting GISAID now? Is China involved?

The problems with GISAID can be ended immediately by the people who submit sequences there. They can simply submit all their sequences to GenBank (American), ENA (European) or DDBJ (Japanese) databases that make their content freely available to everyone. These groups are all members of the International Nucleotide Sequence Database Collaboration. The idea that any reputable scientist should deposit their sequences in a highly restrictive database run by a flaky, convicted fraud (Peter Bogner), over international databases that make sequences publicly available is obscene. Here is a truth you won’t read much – sequencing is easy. It is mostly automated. The key thing is to get access to the samples that have the sequence. Some scientists who have unique access to samples, through political or other connections, want outsize credit for what is really just technical work. That’s why GISAID is so popular with submitters. They can make real scientists who are capable of interepreting the sequences crawl for what should be a public resource. The concerns of scientists in poorer countries could be addressed by offering them funding for equipment and training so that they can participate in papers interpreting sequences.

The current system says a lot about funding of science and how credit is allocated – none of it good. More importantly, it tells us a lot about our intelligence and military establishments. Without any inside knowledge, I can state that they do not take biological weapons seriously and are doing little to nothing to protect us from them. They host inumerable CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) defense conferences, but none of them take biological weapons created by Nation States seriously. Would the NIH have been allowed to transfer money and technical expertise to the Wuhan Institute of Virology if they did? Would a flaky fraud like Peter Bogner be allowed to take control of the most important biological resources in the world if they did?

We are wide open to attack. Indeed, I think it has already happened.

Gestalt #149 – The Viral Invasion

Multicellular life, and even unicellular life, is constantly under attack by viruses. However, something strange is happening now. Some viral invaders have recently begun acting “differently”: Monkeypox was never transmitted easily between humans, until 2022. Now it is being spread within the human population. Marburg Virus is infecting people in two different countries thousands of miles from each other. H5N1 has changed so that it is now a threat to the continued existence of multiple species. I don’t just mean it is killing a lot of individuals. I mean that entire species may become extinct because of this virus. There are approximately 276 wild California Condors and 170 in captivity. Recently, 20 of the wild California Condors were found dead in Arizona after being infected by H5N1. Many species of birds and mammals that only have small numbers of individuals are being killed by H5N1. It is entirely possible that multiple species will become extinct in the wild due to infection of H5N1.

Well, you say, so what? Humans are very numerous. We die of all kinds of things every day. H5N1 and other viruses are not a serious threat to us. Despite millions of human deaths due to SARS-CoV-2, we are all encouraged to “move on” and pretend that people are not still dying of COVID and that long Covid is not real. The ability of the human mind to ignore reality and be programmed into believing things that their own eyes tell them are not true continues to amaze me. It also scares me because I know worse is coming and we are doing close to nothing about it.

The ability to engineer a virus with pretty much any characteristic you want has become so easy that even people with little in the way of brains can do it. Our politicians worry about the safety of experiments being done by American scientists. Fair enough. They could be made safer, if the money to do this is provided by Congress. What no American politician can legislate is what is being done in countries like China and Russia. Does anyone honestly think that the leaders of these two countries will abide by any type of international agreement? Does anyone seriously think they aren’t working on gain-of-function biological weapons, with or without our help? Does anynone think they won’t deploy these weapons as soon as possible?

Let me be as clear as I can be: It is possible, today, with existing technology, to create a virus that could kill pretty much every single human being on the planet. It would be highly infectious, be highly contagious before the infected had symptoms and be nearly 100% lethal. This could be done in a space smaller than the average Walmart. Given that this can happen. That countries like China and Russia have the capacity to make such viruses (and possibly also Iran and North Korea). Why won’t it happen? Explain to me your logic, please.

Gestalt #145 – Who to Trust?

I recently read an extremely disappointing article entitled: “Rogue Faculty and Academic Freedom in the Age of Misinformation” by Eric J. Topol, MD; Abraham Verghese, MD; Robert A. Harrington, MD March 15, 2023. As I’ve written before, I agree with the authors of this article on most issues related to the pandemic: N95s work, vaccines work, avoid crowds, long covid is real, etc. I also agree with them that a few academics routinely appear on Fox News and other venues and spew dangerous misinformation. However, I do not agree with the authors’ apparent interest in censorship and perhaps outright punishment of academics who do not go along with the Party line. First, I have a strong belief in both the First Amendment and Academic Freedom. Selective application of these principles to only people you agree with is the same as rejecting them outright. Second, public health officials and famous scientists have shown that they cannot be trusted. Some examples:

“When polls said only about half of all Americans would take a vaccine, I was saying herd immunity would take 70 to 75 percent,” Dr. Fauci said. “Then, when newer surveys said 60 percent or more would take it, I thought, ‘I can nudge this up a bit,’ so I went to 80, 85.”

New York Times, December 25, 2020

Here, Dr. Fauci is admitting to deliberately lying to the American public. Usually, however, Dr. Fauci doesn’t tell such clear cut lies. More often, he is deliberately deceptive. For example, here is my transcription of a snippet of an interview Dr. Fauci recently gave to Jim Acosta at CNN related to the lab leak hypothesis:

Acosta:
But are there any accounts of that occurring where one might say that OK there we go perhaps this is it. Perhaps this is what happened.

Fauci:
No. In fact, there are no lab leaks that have led to pandemics.

CNN, Jim Acosta, March 2023

Here, Dr. Fauci is telling at least what could be the literal truth, but is not being honest. There have in fact been several lab leaks of viruses that have caused pandemics. It’s just that the pandemic started before the reported lab leaks. Given that pandemic viruses have leaked from Chinese labs in the past, but were reported to have occurred after the pandemic started, it’s really not too much of a stretch to suggest that the leak of virus from a Chinese lab may have caused a pandemic. Dr. Fauci also commits errors of omission by failing to note the many lines of evidence suggesting that laboratory procedures in the Wuhan Institute were sloppy and that they handled exactly the same type of rare virus as was found to have caused an outbreak a few miles away. Does this inspire trust?

One very important fact that is rarely, if ever, mentioned is the enormous power Drs. Fauci and Collins have had on scientists who might otherwise speak up about what goes on in Chinese laboratories. These two men have had absolute power over the US biomedical establishment. Few would risk their wrath. They both have reputations for vindictiveness and evasion of personal blame which no scientist dares mention, out loud. This is a toxic environment.

I have mostly given American examples of untrustworthy behavior at the highest levels. Here is one from Canada:

The RCMP says it’s still investigating two scientists ejected from Canada’s top infectious disease lab almost four years ago, sparking debate about whether the force is up to the task — or the government is committed to seeing through the potentially embarrassing case.

[snip]

Given the links between China and the two researchers and growing concern about Chinese interference in Canadian affairs, the case is an important one, argued Christian Leuprecht, a leading national security authority with the Royal Military College.

[snip]

But not only does the RCMP have limited ability to carry out sophisticated national security investigations, the Liberal government seems reluctant to make public China’s meddling in Canada, charged Leuprecht.

“I’d say there is no political will to have a serious investigation here,” he said. “I don’t have confidence that when it comes to sensitive investigations involving China that could possibly drag in the political elite in this country, the government really has an interest in getting these types of investigations over the line.”

Calgary Herald, Tom Blackwell, March 8, 2023

The two scientists in question are Xiangguo Qiu and Keding Cheng. They had close ties to the Wuhan Institute of Virology and sent dangerous viruses from Canada’s top virological institute, the National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg to the Wuhan institute. The government of Canada has been accused of slow walking the investigation because the current government received substantial financial inducements from China. Does this inspire trust?

Are establishment scientists, the opposite of presumed “rogue” scientists, of the highest possible ethical caliber? In fact, many are not. Some accepted money directly from a known child rapist (Jeffery Epstein) and many indirectly accepted money through Mr. Epstein’s close associate, John Brockman. Mr. Epstein frequently attended meetings at Edge and elsewhere where he associated closely with famous scientists who knew exactly what he was doing. You can find a list of scientists who participated in a group called “Edge”, which was largely funded by Mr. Epstein here. Many of the scientists used Mr. Brockman as their literary agent, despite knowing of his close relationship with Mr. Epstein. To this day, most of the establishment scientists on the Edge list have not renounced their association with Mr. Brockman. Does this inspire trust?

We are often presented with two choices: trust what the political, public health and scientific establishment say or join up with Alex Jones, QAnon and various KrazyKonspiracy groups. I submit that these are not our only choices. Blind trust in either group will lead to disaster, in my opinion. Indeed, blind trust in anyone, even someone well-intentioned (like me!) is a bad idea. We are a free people. We are responsible for our own actions. If we choose not to take a vaccine or wear an N95, we will face the consequences. If we fail to see the threat from China and believe the soothers who say to question Xi Jinping’s motives is the same as being a racist, we will face the consequences.

Knowledge is power. This, I truly believe. The more we know and the more we analyze information for ourselves, the safer we will be.
